In SWIRCA & More’s service to the community we make it a priority to always exemplify our six guiding stars; Care, Compassion, Dignity, Hope, Integrity, and Trust. We convey these qualities through the many services and resources we provide to local seniors and those living with disabilities.

This GivingTuesday, we are asking you to please support the most vulnerable in our community by donating to the SWIRCA & More Points of Hope Discretionary Fund.

The Points of Hope Discretionary Fund is a fund that provides clients an opportunity to get the things they desperately need after they have exhausted all other options and resources. Funds can be allocated in support of living expenses such as bill payment, rent, food, purchasing of appliances, in-home services, and much more.

We are sincerely grateful for your support and generosity this holiday season as we work together to empower local seniors and people with disabilities to remain living safely in their own homes and prevent inappropriate institutionalization.

Points of Hope Story – Apartment Assistance

An elderly client contacted SWIRCA & More looking for assistance to help them move in to their new apartment.
They had recently purchased a new apartment and only had enough funds to pay for the security deposit and needed assistance with first month’s pro-rated rent and renter’s insurance. Unfortunately, they could not move into their new apartment building until all bills were paid in full and ran the risk of being evicted from their current apartment. The possibility of being homeless and moving into a shelter was taking a huge toll on them, and that is when they turned to SWIRCA & More for help.

The Care Manager they were assigned to attempted to reach out to local third-party entities for assistance but was told no due to funding limitations and timing. One place was willing to help the client, but not until after they moved into their new apartment. Although that assistance would have been very much appreciated, it would have come to late.

Through the Points of Hope Discretionary Fund, SWRICA & More was able to assist the client by providing the necessary funds to help with their first month’s pro-rated rent payment and renter’s insurance totaling $227.

It is important to note that, SWIRCA & More would not be able to assist clients without the generosity of local donors who help support this fund. It is through their dedication that we are able to help so many local residents who have immediate needs.

To help clients live a better life in their own home this holiday season, please give to SWIRCA’s Points of Home Discretionary Fund. #GivingTuesday2019 is December 3. There are multiple ways to give.
